Just some feedback, not sure how others feel. The “React” exercise is graded as a Medium, and is on the Learning Mode for Go.
IMO, this is probably a bit much if you’re just trying to grok interfaces and anonymous functions in Go. Indeed, the React exercise is actually listed as a Hard in the Rust track. The level of implementation complexity being asked for by the tests (including single and multi cell dependency updates with very specific behaviors), while a challenging exercise, seems more appropriate after you’ve graduated the learning path.
I am certainly happy to do that. The only thing I would want to ask is - given this will be pulling an exercise out of the Learning Mode for a couple of topics, should we discuss replacing those with something else?
Practice exercises are intended to be solved multiple ways, but particular approaches may come up more often. So it’d make sense to link a practice exercise to those concepts so if you’re going through the syllabus, you don’t tackle the exercises prematurely. However, you also don’t need to solve every exercise right away once they’re unlocked. Backtracing is fairly common since practice exercises may have multiple requirements to be unlocked.
If you unlink the exercise from all the concepts it practices, it should then be available even before you start the syllabus. That creates its own problems, but given it’s clearly labeled as not an easy exercise, I don’t think that’ll confuse a lot of folks in practice.
There’s a separate “prerequisites” field which I believe can be used to lock a practice exercise without linking to it from the concept page. I think it’s probably a good idea not to link to “hard” exercises from the concept pages in general.
Sorry for the delay, I finished solving the exercise just to be sure before doing this. Fun exercise and I learned a lot, but I still feel it should be “Hard” and not in the Learning Mode
