Does it matter that I have 2025-12a installed?
Hi @axtens, We have built the initial sets of exercises and the initial test runner. We are in the process of waiting for the test runner to be added to production (see this PR). Once this is done we will be looking for beta testers and fine tune the exercises. We have a list of additional exercises here (if you want to contribute). We also have plans to work on the concepts exercises (the concept map is here but want to wait until the track is in beta tests and we got that squared away to get serious about it.) Having 2025-12a should not matter that much. We will bump the official version shortly. If you contribute exercises, please read this and the DEV FAQ first. Open an issue and make sure we coordinate before starting anything so we donāt duplicate efforts.
Hi everyone, Iād like to work on Odin team. Where can I start?
Hi @Khantdotcom, we have a first set of exercises ready to use and are waiting for the test runner to be activated so we can try the track from the Exercism UI. We want to get the track active before working on the Concept Track exercises. In the mean time, if you re interested in building some exercises, look at this list. If you are interested, please post at the bottom of that issues and wait for us to confirm nobody else has picked up the exercises you are interested in. Please read this and the DEV FAQ first. Let me know if you have questions.
@ErikSchierboom According to Test track | Exercism's Docs the next step is to ask that Odin be inserted into the db. Can you make that happen please?
Iāve done that just now. The website needs to redeploy and after that the track should be accessible to maintainers.
Go ahead, I added you to the claimed exercises. In the future just add a comment here if you want to request more.
Note that the logo for Odin, as well as some other languages, are missing. On the randomized horizontal list, it shows an empty square, whereas in the search list, it is replaced by a fallback ārailā to indicate a āmissing trackā (asset https://assets.exercism.org/assets/graphics/missing-track-e3d861058d4702c1dc4036617689249659b8d37d.svg)
Due to randomization itās not easy to repro on my side.
Example of missing language icons:
Lean
(trying to load https://assets.exercism.org/tracks/lean.svg)
Odin
(trying to load https://assets.exercism.org/tracks/odin.svg)
Example of screenshot where horizontal list fails to show Odin logo but the search shows fallback logo properly:

Yes, new tracks are waiting on logos. Itās in the backlog.
My understanding, as an Odin track maintainer, is that this needs some work from the Exercism icon team and I donāt need to do anything. But If I am wrong, please point me to in the right direction and Iāll be happy to help.
You are correct. The Exercism team is two people. Jeremy handles that stuff. Heās been focused on launching the bootcamp recently, though.
And we do appreciate all the things you guys do. Exercism is a fantastic platform and I canāt imagine the amount of work that goes into keeping it humming and growing.
I see. So, should the code displaying supported languages randomly simply exclude languages without a logo to avoid this ugly empty square?
Because it could display the fallback track icon but in the context of promoting languages it wouldnāt make sense (and you could possibly have the same fallback track icon twice which would look bad).
That seems like a reasonable approach ⦠but that would probably pretty far down on Jeremyās list of things to improve. Right now his priority is the bootcamp.
