Abandoned tracks

It’s sad to see all that effort sitting dormant: there are a bunch of tracks that have lots of exercises implemented but never made it over the finish line.

Maybe someone will be inspired to pick up the torch?

Notes:

  • These are non-archived public exercism repos where the config.json contains "active": false
  • “LastConfigDate” is the most recent commit date of the track’s config.json

I’d suggest any wip track with fewer than 20 exercises and older than 1 year can be archived.

In case anybody thinks 20 is too high (as I did, very briefly), only 2 old tracks are in the 10 <= n < 20 range:

  • func is abandoned and unmaintained as a blockchain language (replace by Tolk, apparently).
  • plsql is Oracle-proprietary.

That’s an interesting point: how many of the abandoned wip tracks are for dead languages.

And it was once an active track that has been inactivated and should be archived.

I assume this means no config.json activity in the past year. The Pony track is young at heart.

yes that’s what I mean

PL/SQL is a once-live track that was deactivated like ClojureScript. ClojureScript’s repos were archived after deactivation so PL/SQL should be as well. I think that can occur regardless of the ongoing discussion of abandoned WIP tracks because it’s a very different situation.

As a first step, how about I disable dependabot for all the pending-archived tracks? They do produce a lot of noise.

Yes please

disabled dependabot for coq, io, phix, plsql, snobol4
