Broken external link in Go track exercise "Cars Assemble" (Task 3 Hint)

Issue: Broken external link in Go track exercise “Cars Assemble” (Task 3 Hint)

Location: Exercism
Section: Task 3 → Hint

Problem: The link modulo operator no longer shows the intended Go modulo operator tutorial. It redirects to unrelated content instead. (redirects to a spam site showing gambling content in Thai)

I think there’s a typo in the URL actually. Remainder or Modulus in Go (Golang) - Welcome To Golang By Example seems to load fine.

Problem: The link labeled “modulo operator 1” no longer shows the intended Go modulo operator tutorial. It currently redirects to unrelated spam content.

Evidence: Here’s a short recording showing the redirect behavior:

On second look, golangbyexamples.com was registered this year. The contact and donation pages there reference golangbyexample.com. I guess the owner let the registration lapse and someone took over golangbyexample.com, forcing them to move content to golangbyexamples.com.

Maybe the track maintainers want to use a different URL. https://www.bacancytechnology.com/qanda/golang/modulo-operator-in-go looks useful to me, and it has a bit more content for students.

Thanks for reporting @Akhil-R!

I suspect this might be what happened. However, the look and feel of the site looks completely different from what I remember…I remember golangbyexample having a Go playground incorporated, with the tutorial on the left and the playground on the right with the code.

The content looks the same, as if I go to the index this looks similar of what the original site had.

Ended up not using the URL you suggested as I think golangbyexamples.com is a better link, as it is a more Go-focused site, and not from a company trying to sell you something by having a tutorial as a hook. In the track, I think the only exception to this rule we make is Go articles from digital ocean, but only because they are really really good.
