I’m new to Exercism and I just finished the ‘Hello World’ exercise on the JavaScript track. It shows as ‘Published’ on my profile, so that’s all good.
The problem is, when I try to access the next one, ‘Lasagna,’ the platform tells me I need to ‘Join the JavaScript track’ – even though I’m already joined.
I’ve already tried refreshing my page and clearing my browser’s cache, but it’s still stuck.
Does anyone know what might be going on, or if there’s anything else I should be doing?
Yes, I’ve checked ‘Hello World’ multiple times, and it’s definitely marked as completed and published.
What’s really strange is that I can access and complete other exercises within the JavaScript track (and the ‘Open in Editor’ button appears for them) without it asking me to join the track. However, for ‘Lasagna,’ it still asks me to join, even after ‘Hello World’ is done.
I strongly suspect the issue is related to using GitHub for login. Here are all the steps I’ve taken so far to try and fix it:
Attempted other exercises: I successfully completed other exercises within the same JavaScript track (and they didn’t ask me to join the track), but ‘Lasagna’ remained blocked.
Reset progress and re-did ‘Hello World’: I reset my entire progress on the track, redid ‘Hello World’ from scratch, and the issue with ‘Lasagna’ persisted.
Created a new account (non-GitHub): I created a brand new account using a temporary email (instead of GitHub), went through the first exercises, and was able to open ‘Lasagna’ in the editor without any issues on that new account.
Deleted and recreated account with GitHub: I then deleted my original account, created a new one again using GitHub login, redid ‘Hello World’, and I’m still facing the ‘join track’ prompt for ‘Lasagna’ even though it appears available. It seems I might have to stick with a new email-based account.
I’m using Brave browser on a Mac.
I’m attaching screenshots to illustrate the issue (e.g., ‘Hello World’ marked as complete, ‘Lasagna’ showing ‘Join Track’, and another exercise showing ‘Open in Editor’).
Oh! Yes, actually, I was just inspecting the network to see what hack I could apply, and while checking a socket, something updated. It’s now showing as enabled to edit! Nice! :)
