[`exercism/exercism` Issue]: Outdated Content on Website

Found the below logged against exercism/exercism on GitHub (It popped up in my GH notifications for some reason).

Thought it might be better surfaced here for discussion:

Also noticed that the auto-reply bot about the forum is not active for exercism/exercism.

Should it be? Or should the maintainers or guardians group (or some other team) be checking for issues?

The first line (I think) of the README for that repository is:

" For support, please post in the new Exercism forum. New posts here will be closed."

But I am surprised that they are not automatically closed, as promised in this statement.

Thanks

I believe it doesn’t close/reply for org-members or contributors (Out of date content on the website · exercism/exercism@39ec70d · GitHub)

That said, we could probably just have it for everything/everyone now? I don’t think it’s ever right for people to post there. Thoughts?

Agree if their post is unlikely to be seen/responded to – especially for those contributors (like this person) who have made good suggestions/PRs in the past (and we hope will do so in the future).

Yeah - good shout. Would you like to PR the improvement to the GHA, or should I offer it around?

I’d love to (been wanting to mess with GHA more) buuut to be realistic, I am underwater with my track to-do list, new exercises, and the bootcamp (plus other stuff).

So … shop around. Thanks for asking tho!

The first issue noted was already surfaced in Discord and Jeremy’s aware.
The second issue noted was something I mentioned previously. The promo is applied as 40% but you’re supposed to contact CodeCrafters over email to get the 50%.

I’m not sure what the third issue refers to so I left that one alone.

I can’t replicate the fourth issue. I don’t see any date mentioned in the nav bar.

There’s currently a banner at the top of Bootcamp noting that late enrollments are allowed so the fifth issue about “Starts Jan 2025” might not be that big of an issue.

The README says For support, please post in the new Exercism forum. New posts here will be closed.

I think the second sentence could be tweaked slightly to reference newly created issues or PRs. The juxtaposition of forum posts and GitHub “posts” might be confusing.
