When viewing an exercise page showing my published solution like https://exercism.org/tracks/vimscript/exercises/line-up,
the website shows the published iteration code under Feladat közzétéve. However, the associated timestamp is only being partially translated as “Közzétéve 1y ago” but should be “Közzétéve 1 éve”
Thank you @BNAndras, this is a clear report.
The Hungarian text “Közzétéve {{time}}” is right. The time part (“1y ago”) is produced by the website’s code, which always builds these short relative times in English and does not look at the page language. That is why no translation can change it, and the same English appears in a few other places where a short time like “3d ago” is shown, in every language other than English. We have passed the details to iHiD, who looks after the website. The proposed change makes non-English pages use each language’s own relative time.
One question for when that is in place: the standard Hungarian form of “1y ago” is “egy éve” (“Közzétéve egy éve”), while you suggested “1 éve”. Which would you prefer for a single unit? For other values the standard forms are “3 éve”, “2 napja” and “5 órája”.
1 éve reads the same as egy éve. In an UI, I think numerals would be preferred for easy readability. We’re using the relative timestamps as a quick reference on the edges of the content we’re highlighting. The standford forms look correct and are in line with what I’m proposing.
Thank you @BNAndras, that settles it. We will ask for numerals, so a single unit reads “1 éve” and the others keep the standard forms (“3 éve”, “2 napja”, “5 órája”). We have added your preference to the details passed to iHiD. The website’s date library writes “egy” for one unit by default in Hungarian, so the website change needs to override that with the numeral form.
