I would love to see Nushell as a supported language. There is already Bash and PowerShell, so I think it would fit right in.
If this is not the right place for language requests, please feel free to move this post.

Would you like to build out the track? Tracks are all built by volunteers.
Ah I see. I’m afraid that’s too big of a commitment right now.
I thought there might be a list where requested languages get collected and counted to judge interest or something like that.
Nope. Exercism has two staff members and an army of volunteers. Tracks are built by people that want to see that track exist. Sometimes a volunteer recruits other volunteers to form a maintainer team. Most tracks are built by one or two people. Occasionally you get teams of three or four, but generally it’s just one person that wants to see the track exist and makes it happen.
It looks like a fun shell. Might try it sometime
I would be willing to work on this track.
Example Hello World implementation:
export def hello [] {
"Hello, World!"
}
Test suite:
use hello-world.nu hello
use std/assert
assert equal (hello) "Hello, World!"
Passing test suite:
~> nu test.nu
~>
Failing test suite:
~> nu test.nu
Error: nu::shell::error
× Assertion failed.
╭─[/home/foxduck/test.nu:3:14]
2 │ use std/assert
3 │ assert equal (hello) "Hello, World!"
· ───────────┬───────────
· ╰─┤ These are not equal.
· │ Left : '"Goodbye, Mars!"'
· │ Right : '"Hello, World!"'
╰────
Ok, here are some of the things from the New Track Docs and what I’m planning to do:
Official website
Variants
Only one, AFAIK
Official logo
None.
Testing framework
The standard library’s std/assert
Test Runner
A simple implementation would run nu [tests file] and use the $? variable.
HighlightJS & CodeMirror support
Not that I know of. The closest language it maps to is maybe Bash, not quite sure.
Might have missed something here, tell me if so!
Nice. Testing your Nushell Code | Nushell looks promising for the start of a test runner setup.
GitHub - exercism/nushell: Exercism exercises in Nushell. and GitHub - exercism/nushell-test-runner repos have been created!
@SneakyMallard in the past I was also interested in setting up a track for nushell. Is there something I can help out with to get this added to exercism? I
I haven’t worked on the track much for a while, but if you want to help you should ask @ErikSchierboom to add you as a maintainer and then check out issue #1 to see what there is to do before launch.
That sounds like implicit agreement from the current maintainer to have you join. Do you want to join as a maintainer? If yes, what’s your GitHub handle, @YanniPapandreou ?
Thanks @SneakyMallard. Yes, @IsaacG I’d be happy to join as a maintainer. My GitHub handle is YanniPapandreou
Great. You have a GitHub invite to join the team.
thanks - I’ve accepted the invite :)
I;m looking forward to the track launch!
