Mentoring very old requests

In the C# track, there are many mentoring requests that are a year old or more. What is the likelihood that someone who submitted a request a year or more ago is still interested in help? Should I just concern myself with recent requests (last few months?)

Any rules of thumb on this?

Given those requests are old, it might be worth starting the session by first asking the student if they’re still interested in being mentored. They may have moved on by then and then they say no or the session times out in a couple of weeks.

However, I’d be careful about overextending yourself by taking on too many requests at once. If some students still want to be mentored, that might be a lot of work for you.
