New languages and #12in23 calendar month badges

There are 11 badges that students can earn by completing 5 exercises in a month, using tracks featured in that month.

The tracks for each month are currently specified in
New #12in23 Badge for completing all the things. (Ignore the specific exercises listed on that page, they were for 2023.)

For example, I just earned the December Diversions badge by publishing 4 exercises in Lua and 1 in Wren.

Should students now also be able to use the more recently launched tracks to earn these badges?

Which month would each track be assigned to?

I guess, we can add new languages here website/app/commands/user/challenges/featured_exercises_progress_12_in_23.rb at main · exercism/website · GitHub

Well, it’s a badge for the 12in23 challenge, so IMHO it should probably be static.

Should we add a series of badges where folks do X number of exercises in a single track tagged with a certain paradigm? That’d let new tracks participate seamlessly without diluting the 12in23 badges.

I don’t know. Jeremy can decide but I don’t think this is high priority

I think one advantage of doing that is we could have a recurring #12inX without hopefully a lot of manual work by Jeremy. If we forgo the overview videos, each month’s page could be generated and reference a quick introduction/summary of whatever track tag we’re using for that month and then include all the applicable tracks with that tag. Featured exercises in those tracks are nice for guiding folks, but we could forgo that and just have the tracks themselves featured.
