Perlfaq4listarray broken link

At https://exercism.org/tracks/perl5/concepts/arrays-and-lists , “What is the difference between a list and an array?” goes to https://exercism.org/tracks/perl5/concepts/perlfaq4listarray , which is a 404.

Also, https://exercism.org/tracks/perl5/concepts/references has “Curly Brackets” links to https://perldoc.pl/perlref#Curly-Brackets . But I cannot access that site because it has misconfigured DNSSEC. Please link to the official https://perldoc.perl.org/perlref#Curly-Brackets .

Thank you for posting here.

Would you be up to submit a pull request?

I am seeing something needed like this:

diff --git a/concepts/arrays-and-lists/introduction.md b/concepts/arrays-and-lists/introduction.md

While we are there we could also fix the two misspellings, one for “interchangeability” and one for “following”.

In either case, I have reopened the issue.

The DNSSEC question is likely for the domain owner of perl.pl. I do not have a similar issue with the domain. I am guessing that you are unable to get to any of the perl.pl links listed, not only the broken one, and not only the one you listed?

I sent the Markdown fix pull request as arrays-and-lists/introduction: fix Markdown link by danielzgtg · Pull Request #730 · exercism/perl5 · GitHub . I can’t test on exercism.org, but at least on github.com, the link was previously a GitHub 404 and now it goes to another website.

While you said we were at it, I ran fd -t f -e md -x cat {} | aspell list -l en | sort -u and fixed typos found in 6 files. The pull request is at Fix typos found by aspell by danielzgtg · Pull Request #731 · exercism/perl5 · GitHub .

I would have preferred that we replace our perldoc.pl with perldoc.perl.org , which I heard someone say at github.com/perl/perl5/issues say is official. perl.pl is a different link that goes to eBay. Anyway, the DNSSEC problem is a long-standing bug that might be unique to systemd, and they haven’t fixed it yet, so in the meantime, I just go to alternative websites.

Thank you.

The force push is causing me to not be able to reopen which is a known issue for github, but git handles it fine, so I patched them into the sync PR, we can always split it out later if we decide to. The files may revert if they are coming from Problem Specifications though.

I think that the other maintainer(s) will note this, and some decision will be made concerning that. I am still looking into the history for the links being a mix of official and unofficial.

As far as I can tell my perl distribution package refers to www.perl.org as the official site and there it points to perldoc.perl.org. So official it may be, I have no idea how useful it is.

I believe there has been history of the non-official site providing more up to date documentation, when things are not updated on the official site. I do not have strong feelings that only official documentation is used, especially when it seems the unofficial site is in cooperation with the official site.
