While we are working on documenting the supported PHP modules along the tool chain, the question arised: Why do we support the non-standard data type extension “ds”?
The extension adds data types, standard PHP does not support. Like Vectors, Queues and more. These are (in my opinion) more of interest for academic and production grade programming. But they are not supporting fluency in writing PHP code.
We kept it for being “used in community solutions”. But now there is a version 2.0 of “ds”, changing most of the interface surface. Which defeats the “used in community solutions” argument. Upgrading likely breaks all of them.
I’d like to remove that extension from the PHP track tooling. PHP track maintainers, mentors and whom it may concern: What’s your opinion about this?
