i leave the original message here but this can be marked as fixed and closed as i just made an opsie apparently.
one of my guard clauses was reversed without me noticing and created an infinite loop that of course tried to run the tester and at some point returned the blocked request as it should causing the crashes. my bad sry.
hey there.
if i try to run test in the browser atm the first run works fine of a new exercise but every other gets blocked after that for the second day now.
before that it was fine. some fancy llm troubleshooting later it says:
What’s happening
Exercism’s online JavaScript editor tries to start a Web Worker from:
assets.exercism.org/javascript-browser-test-runner-worker.mjs
Instead of receiving the JavaScript module, your browser is receiving an XML error response from Cloudflare with HTTP 403.
Firefox then quite correctly refuses to load it as JavaScript because the response has:
Content-Type: application/xml
So the chain is essentially:
Run Tests
→ Exercism tries to load JS test runner
→ assets.exercism.org returns 403
→ response is XML instead of JavaScript
→ Firefox refuses to execute it
→ test runner never starts
→ Exercism appears to hang/crash
this happens on 2 different machines both running cachyos@latest and 3 different browsers.
i am running atm the javascript course and my stuck exercises are “Bird Watcher”, “Mixed Juices” and “Nth Prime”. did not test another course but i doubt that it would be different.
after that i tried using the cli on my laptop but after configuring it it just says starting the test and nothing happens at all anymore.
is there a limit how often a free user can use the test runner? any ideas?
