Prompted by a discussion between @keiraville and @glennj in another thread, I just took another look at D. I used it a bit a few years ago, liked it, and was puzzled that it failed to get accepted to any real extent in its 20+ year history.
It seems as though the creator/maintainer was driving everyone crazy with extreme unresponsiveness to community input. Not just resisting feature creep, also resisting urgent bug fixes and ignoring all PRs. This led to a fork at the beginning of 2024, creating OpenD.
It’s hard to know where this is going. The website looks like it was hacked together in the last few hours rather than 11 months ago, so they clearly have a lot of work to do. Does anyone have a better understanding of the situation?
